INSTAND (Germany) is an interdisciplinary, non-profit, and scientific-medical professional society that promotes quality assurance in medical laboratories. It is appointed by the German Medical Association as a reference institution and has been performing interlaboratory comparisons worldwide in all areas of in vitro diagnostics since 1970.

INSTAND currently offers more than 350 EQA schemes, primarily in the disciplines of Clinical Chemistry, Immunology, Microbiology, Molecular Genetics, Transfusion Medicine, Virus Diagnostics. To date, INSTAND has approximately 12,000 participants worldwide and has over 500 publications where they publish findings from research projects and interlaboratory tests in selected peer-reviewed journals.
